Question by turkeymaster. Uploaded on November 16, 2010
It has a lot to do with personal preference, but a call with two reeds and a v cut seems to be the most versatile, at least for me. Primos makes some good ones.
i like the primos dome call its my favorite and it imitates hens perfectly i have called in many turkeys with it but unfortunately i wasn't in the right position. but you can guarantee thats what will be in my vest next spring
You're the turkeymaster and you don't know????? Just kidding I have had great luck with the HS Struts Raspy ol' hen. It's inexpensive and makes verygood rspy yelps, clucks and purrs.
I am a fan of both Primos and HS Strut. Whichever call you can use the most comfortably is the one you will be best with. Just keep practicing.
With me the more reeds the better, but they require more practice to be effective.
Best is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder, or the caller in this case. I prefer Knight & Hale.
HS Strutt Calls and and a local one made by Tom's Teasers
i prefer primos diamond cutter, i seem to be able to anything with it. but whichever you chose always carry 2, because when they get to moist sometimes the tone gets a bit off, just a tip.
I really like the Freak Nasty by Flextone even though I'm thirteen and the calls kinda big for my mouth I took scissors and cut the sides to make it smaller.
I can't remember the name it's by Primos and it's a newer call it's really good for all the above and very easy to use.
