Q:
I have a 20 gauge nova and am going on my first farm pheasant hunt in a couple of weeks. I was wondering what would be the best pellet size load and choke to use? ps: It will be in Minnesota.

I'll buy into the need for the 3" shells. You just get more pellets of #5, or 6's in the larger 20 ga. casing...but if it is the early season, you can get closer flushing birds, and the 2 3/4 in shell can be fine. I question how many pellets of number #6's I get in a 1 oz. load. The 1 oz load is what I see in the 2 3/4" casing. Maybe someone has seen 1 1/8 oz loads in the shorter casing, I don't know if it is possible. But in the 3" casing you can buy 1 1/4 oz loads, and that is the standard 12 ga. load, and plenty of lead.
