Nothing sounds more real than slate.

Neither, but slate is better. I will have to say that I think a good wood box call is unbeatable in sounding most like a real hen. That's all I use plus a diaphragm.

I use slate mostly and have another call thats made of a glass for in the rain

I like both. I love the ring and break of a good glass call. I've found that a good glass call will break loose a shut mouth tom better than anything except maybe one of my boxes... LOL... I love a good slate for soft work especially tree calls and those soft, gentle sweet nothings!

I use both. The glass gives me something different. High pitched and very raspy.
