Any time the season is open is fine.
have most of my luck at the end of the season...the later it gets into the season the easier it gets to call in the gobblers....killed my biggest birds later in the season. hens have been breed or are on the nest, and the bigger birds are the ones with energy left to breed. since there are less hens around, they are more vulnerable to calling. thats my opinion.
What part of the country are you talking about? I like the last two weeks in March and the four weeks of April. The season is over then where I am.
Our season here in WV dosen't come in until the last week of April. I think that the best time is the first week of season.
Mid to late April is best here in Nebraska.
