No,don't forget the area, especially with the rut coming on. Chances are the big boy could be there as you read this post.
Big boys have a way of witnessing a lot that takes place in the woods.Approach the area, quietly and practice good hunter skills, such as no movement, being quiet, and etc., and you just might happen upon 'ol Grand Dad!
One year I shot a doe, gutted it, and left it there for about an hour. When I went back to get it, I noticed movement on the other side of the field. It was an eight pointer and it was walking strait for that doe. when it got there it just looked at the doe and continued like nothing was wrong. It didnt looked spooked or anything. That is until I launched at arrow and missed it. I wouldnt even let a gut pile stop me from hunting a good spot, now that i saw what I saw.
Unless you spooked the big boy, it won't be affected by your shooting another deer at that location. If it is a good spot, keep hunting it.
yeah unless the deer identified the area with you hunting i d go right back just be sure to cover your scent good and sneak in be a little more careful thats all.
Go right back he will be there sooner or later like 2Poppa said with the rut coming on.If any does on there he will be back to check them out.Just dont forget to keep yourself scented and stay quite
wait till the rut if does come in a mature buck will run the small bucks off
