i would say using a bow or gun pulley system thing (to pull ur weapon up) and ladder, i hate the screw in things, and i like to get away from the tree a little not going straight up

I'd have to say a ladder, with a linemans rope and a full body harness. As ethan said, a pulley system is also good, unless you have a backpack on that your weapon attached too.

A fixed position ladder stand is probably the safest with a body harness ,problem is they are heavy and the harness does not work until you attach it to the tree once you have already climbed it. Thus a sit down stand up climber with a body harness and life line attached to the tree before you even start climbing. As there is nothing in the way of attaching the safty line to the tree and then sliding it up as you go. With any other type stand you cannot do this because there are attachments in the way of the line. You have to climb the tree unsecure to the top and attach a safty line. I use them all from 10' to 35' high and I have to say the climber is by far the easiest and safest when used correctly.

I only use Ladder stands it's the safest way to mount and dismount your stand with out your gun, I run two gun-lines off the stand, one for gear and one for my gun, at my age one time-up and one time-down. Lol

If using a portable, I like climbing sticks. If not, a ladder stand. I'm afraid of screw in steps, I can just see a foot slipping off a frosted step and getting impaled on one of them.

Ladder. I have had screw in steps break off.

Remember 3 points of contact at all times while climbing. Pull your equipment up, do not climb with it and for Pete's sake use a safety belt.

A staircase with a handrail on each side leading to the back door of a spacious boxblind, like the ones we see on the hunting channels.

Summit Viper, Hunter Safety System Vest, according to statistics, climbers are safer than lock ons BC the accident usually occurs while trying to board the stand from the pegs or climbing sticks.

I use all of the above. I personally believe that a ladder stand is the safest way to go if you have never used a stand to hunt out of. If you own or lease the property that is. If you are hunting on public land then definitely a climber. I prefer a hang on with steps and a linemen harness. Thats just me though. No matter what you use never enter a tree without using a harness. If you really want to feel better about using any stand, Take the advance hunters safety tree stand course. Your state should offer it. I know mine will put on a free class if you get together enough people.

I feel more comfortable hunting out of a ladder stand than any other stand available. That's just me. Regardless of what stand you use, always wear a safety belt.
