worth every penny, yu might buy used or older models and save bunches. YOu can buy used (consignment) at some dealers or on ebay for 300-900. I've seen new bows sale for 550 on ebay. Good luck and look around.
You won't know if it's worth that much til you shoot it. By all means, listen to all the advice you can, but keep in mind: just because the bow is good for your buddy doesn't mean that it will be the best choice for you; not every 'pro' is a quality source of information; don't buy the first bow you try, shoot all that are availible.
I got a chance to shoot the Z7 this past weekend, along with some of it's top competition. I found nothing wrong with the bow itself but have decided to purchase a different bow with similar features. Why? Simply put, it feels better to me.
ckrich nailed it. they are amazing bows and would treat you well but you have to decide whether or not it fits you and has all of the features you want. in my opinion no one can tell you what bow is best for you and if they try they are a salesman. go find a local archery shop and shoot everything of that same caliber and find which one is your bow.
The Z7 is a great bow. My brother has a 70lb one and it sure is fast. Very solid back wall, and extremely smooth drawing. I have not shot the Reezen but it is supposed to have an aggresive draw cycle. Just get the Z7 if you are thinking about geting one.
I also shot Hoyt's new Maxxis 31 and the Z7 is much better.
Shoot one, and if you can afford it, go for it. Just because it's expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's the 'best' for you. Personally, I love my Reflex, but that's just me. If I'd had a 'Mathews" budget at the time, I may very well have bought one. Since I couldn't afford one, I didn't bother trying one out.
Love my 65 lb Z-7. Got it for $750. Shop more than one Mathews dealer for the best price. Tell them you are looking at other dealers. Bet that price comes down some.
i have a mathews reezen 6.5 and i just shot the Z-7 last weekend and i couldnt tell the difference. the draw cycles are really close the only major difference is when you get to the wall.. but for the money i would try to find a used mathews reezen 6.5 on archerytalk.com fully loaded around 550-600. mathews bows are worth their wieght in gold.. the reezen is my first mathews bow and now i wont go to another bow brand ever!!!!
I doubt there are many bows (or guns) made that are actually worth what we have to pay for them... many of them are truly great bows but we are paying for alot more than just the hardware. How can one argue that the Z7 is better than the Outback? or vice versa, they where all top of the line at one point and only so many improvements can be made. If it shoots straight and fast... what else do you need? Or have to pay for?
