Q:
Why do some Bow Manufacturers (Bowtech, Diamond, Mathews and PSE, to name a few) void your bow's warranty when you put a bow string not "approved", such as Winner's Choice Custom Bow Strings on your bow?

I didn't know Bowtech did that. I was planning on getting a Winner's Choice bowstring for my Diamond The Rock (made by Bowtech). I guess I will just have to go ahead and void my warranty:(

Because of the money involved. Strings and cables are a big business today and tons of greenbacks are involved. There is no mechanical reason for them to void warranty, it's simply the money. I have never shot any strings but my own on my bows for years and have never had any problems. It's not hard to make a bowstring that is as good as any made today and that includes the #1 and that is the Winners choice. Mine are made from the same material and pre-streached which is a important feature for string rotation. A good string once shot in will never rotate the peep incorrectly.

I'm sure they just want to sell their own strings and cables as well as protect their bows from non-OEM parts.

i like the winners chocie strings also they are better quality than the stock string and cable that came on my mathews and last longer but they got you if you dont use the string they recommed on the warranty they do it because of the deal they have with the manufactor of the strings so they get them cheaper for their new bows they are making year round . its not that the other strings are crapy strings it just part of the deal they have to keep you buying manufactors brands so they get a better cut price

Clay, nothing happened. I was asking a Mathews Dealer about changing strings and he said to use the Barracuda Strings, because using other strings, such as Winner's Choice, would void the warranty. I talked to a fellow arrow-slinger at a bow range and he was shooting a Diamond Marquis and said that they would void his warranty if something happened to his bow and it had non-approved (non-factory reccomended) bow strings on it. I saw that Hoyt's warranty stated that they use Fuse Bow Strings, and to only use that Brand on their bows to not void their warranty. PSE now uses America's Best Premium Bowstrings.

They do it because to put on a string your bow needs to be put into a bow press. If you shoot a hoyt and have the string put on by a certified hoyt dealer theres no problem. But if its a bow shop and its a winners choice you have a problem. If bow presses arent operated right they can ruin the bow. Thats why they reccomend that they do all the work on your bow. They over charge and ur still shooting all of their strings and cables.

Most bow companies don't want you using after market strings because the stock strings are so bad and cheap. Check out www.korbinsarchery.net they have a good following with PSE Bows.
