Q:
what does it mean when a buck weezes? potterman96 and i had one come underneathe us on saturday with 2 does and he weezed a bunch. does it mean he is basically telling other bucks to stay away from his does?

Could have been. Or it could have been a "tending grunt" too. Would have to have been there to hear them.

yeah like big o said it could have been a weak grunt or it could have been a warning i have had doe's make a weezing noise and then take off because they spotted us and it was a warning to other deer

Must have been a really neat experience. Next time it happens, and you have decided that you are not going to shoot...pull out a grunt call and play with him a little bit. See what types of reactions you can get with different grunting sounds. Perhaps your experimenting will call in a bigger buck that is within earshot.

The snort-grunt-wheeze is an aggressive vocalization. He was either upset with the does for not standing for him, or he was letting other bucks in the area know this is his turf. If it was over bait or food, he could've been telling other deer to keep away while he feeds. I often snort-wheeze while rattling in late Oct.- thru Nov.
