Q:
Ever leave for a hunting trip, then get about a half hour down the road thinking that you forgot something, then an hour down the road you KNOW you forgot something? If so, what do you forget? For me it is mostly wool socks, binoculars, or gun cleaning stuff, one time it was my bullets, ha ya kinda need those.

I headed out to go duck hunting one morning last season and remembered I had left my shotgun in the living room about an 45 mins down the road. And the year before that I forgot to bring my hunting boots on the way to the deer stand one morning and had to hunt in my wool socks and sandals. I'm pretty bad about forgetting things in the mornings lol.
haha wow glad im not that bad, haha just kidding
we went out at about 1 PM on a saturday and forgot water a shovel and rope just about everything we needed if we got an elk and low and behold we shot one and were totally unprepared. luckily everything worked out
yeah walk 2 my stand from my house the other day and i got into the woods walked about 5 minutes and realized i forgot my side arm pistol i usually have with me i have forgotten it before and not gone back what reminded me was a the large black bear walking across the trial in front of me. he got kind of curious and walked right at me i had an arrow loaded but i grabbed the 1st thing i had on my pocket an apple and tossed it at him hind sight this could of been a bad idea but it hit the bear on the head he turns and runs away and i walked back and got my hand gun needless to say.

I have walked into my wilderness hunting area, climbed into my stand and realize I left my bow release back at the truck. Try shooting a bow set up with loop with fingers, lol. Just wait it gets better, your mind will have more knowledge and better filing capabilities as you age. Soon you'll be able to remember so much more, where you put the car keys, where you put that new feeder motor and all those oh so important anniversaries.
I forget things all the time.
buddy you got to get your stuff together the night before or it's trouble!
I am pretty good to forget stuff like something to eat!
happens all the time if not everytime
I once left for a week long hunting trip and forgot to pack any socks or underwear. Luckily, Walmart was on the way!
The best story I have heard was when my neighbor was going elk hunting in Colorado. They got part way across South Dakota and he realizes he forgot his bow. He just says, "Keep going." They stopped at Cabela's and he bought a whole new setup! Talk about an expensive trip!
I'm real bad to forget the obvious, like my rifle. I'm so busy trying to remember all the little details, I seem to overlook the biggies---the things that are so important that nobody in their right mind would forget them. Oh, well, my wife has been making comments about my mental condition for years, and I haven't left anything so far behind that I couldn't go back and get it.
Got into such a hurry to meet up with some friends that I left both rifles at home. Lucky they had a spare.
I fogot my bullets last afternoon of deer season last year. Went back got the bullets and when I got to my farm I noticed I was out of gas in the truck. I walked to the first stand I came to frustrated. I was back down with in ten minutes after shooting a 8 point and a doe. Called my wife and she and our son came to "help me find the doe" and also brought me 5 gallons of gas to get home on.
I forgot the playing cards. Damn I was mad.
I hunt quite a bit, so decades ago got tired of forgetting things and put together check lists, typed and prioritized. I have them for every type of trip, Africa by climate and country. Even for a 10 day pack train trip for elk in the Rockies entitled "When In Doubt, Leave It Out". I even pack my duffle bag in listed order, my discipline is never more than one duffle bag.
Life got a whole lot easier and certainly less embarrassing
Oh, what did I forget? I can't remember.
once I forgot my boyfriend does that count?
Well its nice to hear that other people forget stuff as much as i do...thought i was just loosing my mind. I would have to say, besides the wool socks, gun cleaning kit, and bullets, the worst time was when i left my whole duffle bag at home and made it to within 1 hour of my camp (4 hour drive) and my sister called me and told me...so i ended up turning around and meeting her half way...i was so pissed, now i have a check list this year, but i will probably forget to put something on the check list...vicious cycle i guess.
i have forgotten my knife, hunting license, and water so far this year. Luckily I only made it over 5min from the house once. One time a few years back I forgot my release for my bow...that sucked.
It happens to me all the time. To fix it, I made a checklist of EVERYTHING I take with me on a hunting trip and taped it onto the top of the plastic bin where I put all my hunting gear using clear packaging tape. That way, when I'm getting ready for my hunt I can refer to the checklist to make sure I have everything I need.
It was raining on opening day many years ago,and I took my gun in to wipe it down.
I was to meet a prearranged huntin' party early the next morning after breakfast. Just as everyone was getting ready,I realized I left my gun at home, and forgot to place it back in the truck ...
Forgot my game loads but remembered the buckshot. No deer ... plenty of rabbit no shells
Over the years I have simplified my life. I go to the woods with just my bow and arrows. Nothing more. Wouldn't you know it I have forgotten one or the other.
