Q:
I went to get some 22lr this afternoon at my local big box store and they were completely out. Is everyone experiencing the ammo shortage or is more of a regional thing? It looks like they were out of just about caliber but a few off the wall ones.

Handgun ammo seems to be in short supply locally, except for some hardball .40 S&W.

It isn't a local thing. Ammo is in short supply almost nationwide. I have checked all of the mail order houses and the answer is the same , all out of .22 , .223. Very limited supply of everything else except for the odd ball stuff. People know what is coming and are stocking up. Try to find a large rifle primer. Like looking for a needle in a haystack.

People are hoarding ammo again. The recent talks of gun control have gun owners in a frenzy for ammo, clips, handguns, and assault rifles.

I live in the Portland (OR) area, and components for .45ACP, 9mm and other popular cartridges have disappeared from the shelves at my local resources. Prices are creeping up on factory ammunition. We live in interesting times.

Can't find .22 ammo ANYWHERE. I did stumble up on a brick of 100 rounds at Wal-Mart about 2 weeks ago but since then I can't find anything.

Yeah I was just checking online and it is hard to find any .22 ammo. I love shooting 22's and hate it has come to this. Too bad you can't reload it yourself.
