Q:
I'm a New Jersey resident. I recently took a hunters safety education course here in NJ. I am planning on going hunting in upstate NY and want to purchase a license online. On the application page, they ask for a number to prove that I attended a safety course. What number do they want? Is it the DFW CID # (Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation ID #), the shotgun education #, or the rifle education #? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you took a course and got some sort of certification at the completion of the course, then that's likely the number they want. Try ordering a license on the phone by calling 1-86-NY-DECALS (1-866-933-2257). After you have purchased your first NY license, it becomes easier to buy one online.
It would prob be the fish and game # I would contace the NY fish and game to double check and make sure.
