Q:
Just finishing up packing for the up coming gun season, and have all my treats ready to go. I have trail mix, granola bars, and some jerky. Wondering what everyone else brings in the stand with them to munch on? I will be sitting all day and plan on bringing a pb&j also. Just want to know what I am missing out on.

PEANUTS! the ones still in the shell...me and my cousin killed a whole bag of them one day, throwing them out the window of the blind and then had two bucks come with in 10 yards of the blind.

I mix 1 bag or jar each dry roasted lightly salted peanuts, walnuts, raisins, M&M's, chocolate chips, dried cranberries, and hulled sunflower seeds
in a sealable container, sort of a home made trail mix. We put it in sandwich bags and stick it in a pocket along with water, probably an apple, maybe a candy bar.

Opening weekend I bring all of your essentials, but I have also begun to take a couple handfulls of bird seed. The chicadees come in droves when I put it on my stand. Watching the birds keeps me occupied and makes me sit still and quiet. Good luck this weekend to all.

mr. hansen - since reading to pee or not to pee

I have changed my mind and don't bother with a pee bottle any longer especially for gun season.

+1 for 007 for using exact same trail mix recipe I use and suggesting the exact same things I bring into the woods...great minds think alike :-).

Thanks Bioguy, appreciated. In deer season we hunt pretty close to home. However, when bear season rolls around and we're gone all day, it's beenie weenies, pudding, hot soup in a thermos, lots of bottled water, a chunk of sharp cheese, cookies, crackers, and a thermos of coffee. Of course this all rides in a cooler on top the dog box, and since you don't always get home when planned, you need to keep plenty of fuel for the furnace. Good hunting, best regards.

Coffee and soup, of course. Toast. Be sure to bring extra granola for the deer. You might be surprised.
