Tomorrows is Alex's Youth Hunt, Saturday and Sunday. I wonder what this kid is going to pull off and for the first Buck any Buck is legal and the wind is blowing perfect!
Question by Clay Cooper. Uploaded on November 06, 2009
My son bow hunted today south of Magazine mtn, saw lots of bucks and does from sun up till 730 then he said it shut down. They're moving so There's a good chance Alex will get lots of action. Good luck to him and whom ever goes with him. Too bad it's so dang hot and no relief till thur ir fri.
Call this the luck of the Irish or what! I got to tell'ya, this kid has more luck than anybody I know of. This morning we got the Americastep blind put up and we walked no further than 10 yards so I can show Alex a rub. Further down about 75 yards, here comes a big doe being chased by something and trying to hide from whatever it was chasing her coming our direction. Alex was ready to shoot the doe when I noticed a Buck sneaking in about 80 yards were we first sighted the doe and now the doe is only 30 yards away. As soon as Alex got a clear shot the 25-06 roared with a 117 loaded at 257 Weatherby Mag velocity and dropped it like a ton of bricks! Alex went on down while I went to get the ATV. As I was loading the gear on the ATV, he ran back up to me and said, it's a 10 pointer! Sure enough, if you counted everything you can hang a ring on, it's a 10 pointer. Every deer I have shot in Arkansas I been able to lift it and put it in the back of my truck, not this one!
Wow! A great youth hunt. Congratulations to Alex on a fine deer and contrats to Clay for being part of it... hunting doesn't get any better than this does it?
