Q:
Hi Everyone! I've got a wonderful friend who is in his early 30's and he's a big deer hunter here in the south. I'm running into a problem. He owns his own business and has almost everything under the sun...or at least if not...he has the ability to buy it himself. Can you give me some suggestions/ideas as to what to buy him for Christmas...even ideas for gift certificates, etc. I would greatly appreciate all your help!!! Thanks!

Gift certificates to Cabelas. Check Cabelas.com, or depeding on where you live, see if Basspro Shops is closer to you. He will then be able to get whatever he may need from either of those stores.

Also if you have Gander Mountain or Dick Sporting Goods in your area, like MB915 said, Cabelas and Basspro Shops is a great store for gift card Holder!!!

If not a gift certificate to the "Big Boy Toy Store", how about a box of camo handkerchiefs? It's the thought that counts.

How about an engraved knife? Knives tend to carry sentimental value from someone special.

A gift certificate to Bass Pro would be nice in the South. Trail cameras also make a real nice gift if you intend to spend that much.

The best gifts for someone who enjoys the outdoors on a regular basis are the things that really affordable and get used all the time.

Wool socks, thermals, hand warmers, batteries, scent control products, screw in steps for tree stands, SD cards for trail cams (if he has trail cams), ratchet straps, tarps, caribeaners, gambrel & hoist, gutting gloves, bungee cords, and targets all make great gifts and most of them are pretty cheap.

First we need to know what your budget is. Second, while the gift certificates are a good idea, if your friend has the means to buy what he wants generally, a gift certificate just means you gave up on trying to figure him out. Friends know each other and talk, whether they are guys or gals. Get him talking about what he's interested in. If that's not productive check with his friends and family about ideas. One or two suggestions that I think are cool, would be a Casio solar powered watch with compass, altimeter, barometer, etc on it. Another idea would be a good commercial survival kit. Both gifts are unique and communicate that you want him to return from his adventures.

A gift certificate for dinner...always something someone can use...or take him and his family out for a nice dinner....hunters are always hungry..other than that, maybe a gift bag full of the little disposable things hunters always use, such as hand warmer packetts, jerky, scent killer soaps and sprays, gun cleaning oils and sprays, meat sacks, seasonings for cooking his wild game, good socks for hunting and hiking, paper targets, etc...all things that even if he has he can use more of.....
