i cant see how having a doe decoy could hurt you, especially in the rut. a buck decoy has potential to scare deer away. doe would be beneficial in the rut i would think.
I have seen deer come into decoys and some run from them. There is no guarantee along with everything else in life.
doe might be a good idea unless you have a really good ratio like scratch said might run off other bucks. I've used a buck decoy and had it get smoked by a nice 8 after dark last year. I often call at bucks early in the chase phase only to have them just stand and look for the challenge and not come closer due to no challenge
