Q:
Im from Michigan and go to school at the citadel, the military college of south carolina, and i am stuck here during all of bow season, and i only get to hunt the tail end of rifle season when i get home for thanksgiving. Does anyone know how the rut is going in Michigan right now? I obviously have not had a chance to do any scouting or anything.

check this month's magazine. It has rut times for whitetail you might find useful.

Should look into hunting SC, they have one of the longest deer seasons in the country.

Well, I live in mid-Michigan (I have been scouting Shiawassee, Livingston, and Genesee counties), and it seems to be a little slow so far, due to the warmer weather, so you may be in luck. The next 10 day forecast shows everything from 49-60 degree highs, so the rut may hold off for you, good luck after Thanksgiving, I've gotten a couple nice bucks that late in season before.

I feel for you, I went to school out in CA for a few years and had to miss the opener in MI a few times. Always was a sad day on the 15th when I wasn't in the stand.
The rut is in full swing right now. I've been watching bucks bedded with does for a week or so. (shiawasee county) They are sticking tight with them, or on the move looking for the next one. End of the month is a tough time to get out, good luck when you get out.
