I have good luck hunting in the rain as my scent is washed to the ground and my approach is silent due to the wet ground. Hunting in a heavy down poor or thunderstorms are not only a waist of time it's very dangerous. Hunting in the rain, you betcha!!!!

It's my favorite time to hunt. I love to still-hunt, and the wet ground silences your footfall while the rain suppresses your scent from drifting too far. It's still important to go slow and silent, keeping mind of the wind direction and your outline (tree to bush to hill, etc., to avoid silouetting) Hunt upwind into bedding areas. You'll be like a ghost.

When it is raining, it is best to stalk or still hunt. The leaves do not crunch under your feet when they are wet and your scent is not as big of an issue.

The leaves will be wet so you don't have to worry about them crunching underfoot. The sound of raindrops will make it harder for deer to hear you. And the rain will help keep scent down. Those all work in your favor.

I ndon't mind huntin in the rain. It masks sounds and movement.

Deer tend to bed down so be prepared to walk.

Can be good hunting, I just don't like getting soaked...pouring today, so I came back to the office, my buddy called to inform me that deer were running crazy...so I guess I should have been a little tougher today...a light snow is my favorite hunting weather...

light rain all day with little wind, good day to hunt (stand hunting and still hunting)...heavy rains and high winds...not so good day to hunt.

as Cgull pointed out hunting in the rain can be great. Especially after it quits raining can be a great time to catch the deer on the move.

I love hunting in the rain! Look closely under low hanging trees and in under cover where deer might seek shelter from the rain. Wear a wide rimmed hat.

I took one of my biggest deer in a "drizzle rain", 10pt that was bedded down on a ridge top.
I was "stalking" down a "fire trail" when we saw each other ! Don't know who was more surprised ! I do know who went home happy though! (lol).
Good Luck, Stay dry, and Good Hunting !

light rain is fine but head for the hills at the first sign of a real storm or lightening. I rifle will also make a mighty fine lightening rod and it's already full of explosives.

I heard that Deer tend to move more in a light drizzle but less in a down pour. What is everybody's take on this?
