I read that issue and they had some great tips. Since I dont have the issue anymore I suggest you google how to build wooden tree stands. I did it and found some very helpful sites and blueprints.
Building a ladder stand is fun and a experience, but for some safety reasons for about the same amount you can buy modern metal stands and they are much safer over a couple years of service to you.enjoy which ever one you choose and hunt safe.
Using Google type "Free Ladder Stand Plans." Click on the advance search button to the right and under File Type, select PDF only. Numerous plans will pop up in PDF Format. Choose the one that you think is the best.
I have a copy of the plans you are speaking of let me know I will be happy to email them to you.
