Would suggest a summit climbing treestand, can carry it in, climb a tree, sit comfortable all day, carry it out, and wont break the bank.
Also you will never fall out of a tree if your using your safety harness. Do not ever climb without some sort of safety harness, I am more happy to spend more money on a safety harness than the treestand. I value my life that much.
If want a stand at a good price, wait until Dick's have a sale and buy one. Check out Walmart, they may have some on sale from last year.
Check out Cabela's ... here is a link;type in "Tree Stand" in the search section.

besides a climbing stand you can go with a decent hanging stand with some climbing sticks. Gorilla makes some nice hang-ons that aren't too expensive - the smaller the easier to pack in and set up. Spend a little more for light weight packable climbing sticks - I like the Lone Wolf.
I just got my 1st treestand this Christmas and I chose Summit because it seemed like it was the most sturdy stand I looked at.
Agree with MLH on the Gorilla stands. There are cheaper stands that you can find at discount places, but the Gorilla stands always have been nice and solid for me and seem to hold up well. If you wait for a sale you can get different options under $100. I recently saw some of their aluminum versions for that price and they are really lightweight and fairly spacious. Lone Wolf sticks are really nice, light and extremely small, while being quiet to set up.
millenium is in medium price and very comfortable
The Gander Mountain Delux hang on treestand is a very nice stand and is only $50.
Go with Summit!!!
I go with a Gorrila and put the Game Plan Gear -Treestand Transport System on it (at Cabelas for around $50) I hike in 3 miles with this on my back and its just like hauling a ruck. The Gorilla is a good price, almost as light as a climber and I have no complaints about quality. I also beefed up my seat pad.
Ive got an old man climbin stand. for 10 years now I can climb bout any tree I want and be mostly comfortable for however long I care to be up a tree.Hav'nt ever been more than 4 hours so.....
