Q:
I'm sixteen and this is my first year archery hunting, i was scouting today and found lots of tracks around a pond, and two rubs on different trees along a path leading away from the pond. Is this a good spot to put a stand? should i put the stand closer to the rubs, or closer to the pond? any help is greatly appreciated!

Put the stand around the pond. Generally when deer are traveling they will skirt around the edges of ponds. If you can, locate your tree stand on the pond side of a deer trail and wait for wind to blow out into the pond before you sit there.

i would put it near the pond, you know that the deer are going to need water, so be waiting for them.

Depending on the size of the pond, and wind conditions permitting, I would prefer to be on the far side of the pond.

Yeah, I agree with most of these guys. Put it near the pond, but not directly along the edge. Make sure you have good shooting lanes particularly if there is a lot of brushy stuff in there.

Don't hesitate to ask again, we're happy to help.

I would put it somewhere in the middle of the rubs and the pond Make sure you have a clear shooting lane with the rubs because they're most likely to visit the rubs first, especially bucks.
