Make note of it and go get-em next season. Better yet, now is the time to to find the rest of the rubs that buck made. This will give you a very good idea to set up!

I'd swear the deer KNOW to the day and the hour when the season is over! It is bizarre.

I ALWAYS see at least one trophy buck the first week after the season is out after seeing nothing but spikes and basket racks all season. It happens with such great regularity that Edward is right---they know.

Hmmm...when you left, the deer returned. Try again next yeat but don't hunt it too often.

Must be some food in the area. Probably standing corn. Or maybe near a farm where they can get at the stored feed. In the fall the feed is everywhere and the deer are spread out. Winter comes and all the crops are harvested. The deer stack up on any remaining food sources. Or if you are far enough north it could be an area where the deer yard up for the winter. Sounds like a good place to find some shed antlers anyway.

Huntnow, It is really crazy how they seem to know just when it safe to come out in the open, I have had the same thing happen to me so many times. If you you hunt the same place every year, Then Cooper is right make sure you mark it for next year. If not, just chalk it up to Natures way to provide really big buck every year.

The strange thing is that I actually hunted the stand very little, only when the wind was perfect and although I did not see a single deer from it, I know that a good buck uses that corridor. There was good sign there during the season but not like there is now and it seems like the sign is right under the stand now but I was hunting 100 yards from the trails during rifle and MZ season. It is just plain strange.

huntnow, I pulled down 2 stands yesterday and found the exact same thing. Didn't see squat from either during the bow/rifle season. I think they change their patterns w/the food supply. There were crops still in during the hunting season, and I hope that's why several of my stand set-ups proved lousy. I got a game cam. for Christmas, and I plan on using it alot to help me pick better spots next fall.
