Q:
Stalked a buck bedding area with my bow this afternoon. Walked w/in 15' of a bedded buck before i saw him, he thought i couldn't. I drew, but did not have a shot through the briar's. I took a half step to coax him to his feet, but you know how that went...he bolted. I followed him onto the wide open marsh and got a shot. I was not terribly confident on the yardage and shot a 1/2" over his back at 25 yds. We played cat and mouse for another hour or so and i was w/in range a few more time, but didn't get another shot. What could i have done different? I played the wind, called to him, waited for him to calm after the miss, etc. Finally he had enough and gave me the ultimate slip. Very exciting hunt

Wow, that is awsome. Too bad you didn't tag him. It's all part of the hunt though.
If I was you, I would invest in a rangfinder. They really come in handy. Congrats on a fun stalk though.
Hey Steve. We both had good stalks today. Gosh, isn't getting within bow range of a deer a big rush?
I don't think a rangefinder would have worked out too well for this kind of hunt.
shanes right. I have a rangefinder, left it in the truck. I thought 35yds, then decided it was 25, but my indecision caused the high shot probably.
Too bad about the miss. but at least you got some excitement.
