Honestly...it doesn't matter. Deer eat when they're hungry and feel that it is a safe time to eat, and the shape of your food plot isn't going to change that. However, if you want deer to feed during the day, try keeping the hunting pressure on your property low. High hunting pressure forces deer to feed at night, so lower pressure may encourage them to expose themselves a bit more. Either way, dawn and dusk are always good times to be seeing deer, regardless if it is hunting season or not. Hope this helped...good luck!
but will a certain shape makes bucks feel more safe
I took some time to think about this a little more, because there is usually an element of truth to these types of ideas. The only reason I could think that a U, V, or L shape would provide a "better" food plot is because those shapes can keep the plot narrow and surrounded by cover, while at the same time, you could position yourself at the elbow of those shapes so you could see everything. Will it get deer to feed during the day? I don't know, but I still hold to my previous statement that your best chance of getting them to feed during the day is to keep the hunting pressure low.
An hour glass shaped food plot creates a pinch point that may help bring sneaky bucks within range during daylight hours.
Long and narrow is always better than big and square. Longer plots provide more edge area and thud more access to deer.
i would find a little open spot in the woods and just use that as your food plot. try and keep it looking like its natural. thats what i found to work the best in n. michigan. good luck
Whatever gives yo the clearest shot and attracts the most deer.
