I tend to like softpoints specifically Winchester Powerpoints. I have killed deer with Corelokts from Remington but they don't tend to pile up as quick. I love Nosler Partitions.
Hands down Nosler Partitions. I know there is nothing new about them but they have had the best results for me and family over the years, especially in smaller calibers such as .243.
Deer are not hard to kill. Use the bullet types your particular caliber shoots the most accurately, then fine tune from there. There are many fine bullet today. I probably prefer Barnes, but they are expensive and TSX are killers, that travel along ways after killing the deer. Have had good luck with Hornady and Nosler Partitions in lighter calibers. Kindest Regards

My buddy and I were talking the other day that 40 years ago we killed everything we wanted to kill on this side of the ocean ,deer and all with Sierra bullets, GameKings and ProHunters and Hornady Softpoints then in later years people started telling us we had to have TSX, Partition, Accubonds, SST's TTSX, GMX, Balistic Tips and Bergers if we wanted to kill anything. No one ever told all of the deer that we killed years ago that they weren't supposed to die. I was going over the deer I killed years ago and if I can remember correctly they died just as quick as they do today with all of the fancy bullets. Another example that advertising works.
Great advice from Happy... I haven't seen many bullets that won't kill a deer as long as they aren't highly frangible varmint bullets that are the smallest in a particular caliber. I tend to use Hornady Interlocs and Sierra Game Kings. Both are the most accurate in my rifle and penetrate deer completely from end to end. The Sierra are more accurate at 500 yards so I use them when long shots are likely. You need to use whatever is accurate in your rifle. Barnes are good but too expensive for me to shoot by the hundreds.
Almost anything will kill deer if you can hit them right. Shoot whatever your gun likes best. Different brands of even high end ammo will perform differently in each weapon.
That being said said, I shoot Hornady Interbonds for both elk and deer in my 7mm mag.
