might get a jump start when this weather passes. Either way it's just around the bend.
Steve is right. Get into the woods as soon as the weather clears. Have been seeing good rub and scrape activity from smaller bucks for a couple weeks now. I think it is a tad later than usual this year.
With this cold weather, it should be getting into gear now, as far as bucks checking out does and makiing more scrapes and rubs.
Where the deuce did the picture to the left of your name come from?
That's Kirk Deeter wearing a dress, crown and wig. We share a little friendly banter every year over the Ohio State/Michigan game. The game is still a few weeks away but, like Christmas, it's never too early to start.
I am being optimistic here in NJ hoping to get in the woods tommorrow afternoon. Weds morning a more likely scenario and that may be wishful thinking as well. Like b uckhunter, i've seen an increase in rubbing and scraping lately.
Is that the winner or loser from last year?
Selogy, In south west ohio it is getting underway. I drive 32 miles one way to work and I have for the last 6 years been able to tell when the rut is starting and when in full swing by the number of bucks dead along I75 & I70. Recently there have been 5 or 6 bucks dead along the highway during the week with some in places they typically wouldn't be found during most of the year. I would say the end of next week to the following week will be hot for the start of the rut. I have seen 1 buck mounting a doe and have heard of 3 others already, so it is right around the corner.
It is my understanding this attire is normal in Michigan. Also, thank you for sharing your photos of past hunts. Very nice.
Steve, You guys coming out this year?
Buck, unfortunately i have no solid plans to hunt out of state this year though i will probably make it to PA in the next couple weeks. I do hope to hunt Ohio again soon.
Butch and Ken have a lease (couple hundred acres) about an hour from where we were last time. They'll be out soon then again for Muzzleloader i believe.
Steve, Have Ken and Butch look me up if they are around. I have tagged out early again in Ohio and am weighing several offers for out of state hunts. The way the weather is I am thinking the further west I go, the better.
You shoot a good one? You're welcome at our camp, i'm just not sure exactly when i'm going to be there. Maybe the 6th or 7th for a few days. keep you posted. I'll forward to Butch and Ken.
Definitely have Ken and Butch look me up if they need anything. I have enough equipment to outfit an army.
I'll post a picture of my deer and turkey for you. Both recurve kills.
Nice buck dude. I need to get back to ohio!
