Q:
Who would like field and stream to do a Broadhead test like shooting it through a steel drum. Then the next test (with a deferent Broadhead) at a plywood board at an angle? then through a shoulder blade. Then for mechanical broad heads in to ballistic jell with deer hide on it to see the entrance holes and if they do not always open or if they fly like field points

I have to ask when was the last time anyone went on a hunting trip for a steel barrel or plywood???? With modern bows and arrows if you put something the size of a car's dipstick through the lungs they are not going far. I would much rather see people shooting with a hooter shooter, at long distance, in a place without wind like a warehouse. To see witch broadhead is the most consistent when shot through a well tuned bow. It doesn't matter how many shoulder blades or ribs a broadhead can cut through if you can't hit the broad side of a barn.

I think you'll find the effectiveness of broadheads is 5% broadhead, 95% shot placement.

I happen to agree with buckhunter, and you should do some testing yourself before bowhunting. Most properly placed broadheads perform adequately. I did switch to a larger cutting diameter broadhead this year due to poor blood trails last year, but fat(and/or guts) can plug any wound. Had i shot better, a better, bigger broadhead would not have been neccesary.
