Q:
Can someone explain to me where the deductions come from on a nontypical buck? I fully understand where and why there are deductions on typical racks, but it seems to me on a nontypical, anything goes. Am i missing something?

Steve,
Add the non typical points to the gross typical score for the gross non typical or add the non typical points to the net typical for net non typical.
I saw a nice 7 pt on top of the hill yesterday and a very nice 8pt tonight in the gas line. Having the corn cut is making all the difference. If you can make it back out your welcome.
Jeff,
Thanks but i will not make it back this year. Enjoyed the hunts there though. I can see what a great piece it is. I am hoping to make it to Pa. for a few days to rifle hunt, but it's touch and go. If i do you're welcome to join. If not we'll do something next year.
I've always wondered that too! Thanks buckhunter for helping clear it up.
You raise a very good question, and as strange as it seems, symmetry is also very important in scoring a non-typical rack. For the gross score on a non-typical rack, all the point lengths, inside spread, beam lengths and circumferences add up for the total inches. To get the net score, the differences in paired points, circumferences and beam lengths are DEDUCTED. However, abnormal points are still ADDED, unlike a typical rack.
