Both---I hunt for meat the first part of the season and when the rut kicks in, I look for antlers.

Meat, but like Jamesti, I wouldn't pass up a nice rack.

Meat hunter primarily. Always have been because I enjoy venison. I do have a couple nice bucks on the wall though. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time I guess.

Neither really. I think of myself as an “experience” hunter. I love putting meat in the freezer and I’d enjoy bringing in a real trophy buck, but I’m mostly out there for the joy of the hunt.

Hoski,

How's your hunting been so far? Waterfowl has been fairly good. Got skunked on the deer/elk hunt. I still have a late ML deer tag.

I'm a meat hunter. In SE Ak the season opens Aug 1. It runs untill Dec 31. Aug blacktails are very tasty! Too bad more states don't have open seasons when the meat is at its peak for eating, instead of when it is at its poorest.

In the beginning, I was a meat hunter and would shoot whatever came along. In more recent times, I have become more selective, and will pass up on the little guys. I don't mind going home empty-handed, leaving the spike buck if it will make the day for somebody else.
I guess that makes me a trophy hunter.

When I'm out there, I want stew. If the stew happens to come with a free gunrack, well, I sure won't let that stop me.

WAM,
To tell the truth, I've been chasing steelhead so far. I did put up a new ladder stand on the food plot. Took the advice from you guys earlier this year and bought a new scope, (nikon 3X9X40 prostaff) have discovered that Lightfields shot the best outta the 1100. Anxiously waiting for the end of the month for another crack at that buck who performed magic in front of me last year.
I've seen the posts concerning your Colorado trip and the chicken salad dinner upon your return to hearth and home. Good to hear some of your group had some success.
Good luck with your late season tag.

Hoski,
Right after the late season, I'm going to dust off my steelhead gear and get after some metalheads and late chum salmon. I haven't been hitting the rivers much since I got my black dawg, but this year is the year!

Meat and scenery hunter I guess. I have trophies on the wall and don't mind letting novices get the trophies. I'll sure not pass up a shot on a giant though if I have a chance.

Once I have meat in the freezer its back to the marsh with Glock for me. I love late season greenheads. I'm a sunny day deer hunter and a windy snowy day duck hunter. Glock is not a fan of deer hunting. He fishes with me, travels with me to and from Ak, and doesn't understand why I leave him with a gun in my hands for deer hunting. Thats the only time he gets left home.

Depends a bit on what I am hunting and how hungry I am. Hunting is not a pastime for me, rather it is a way of life. Have been lucky enough to enjoy the adventure of hunting most everywhere. At times, others depended on me for meat, other times just being outdoors was the main goal. Our freezer is always full and my mind has plenty of memories.
