Florida Hog Hunting Strategies:
Florida Hunting Regulations:
"With landowners’ permission, wild hogs may be taken year-round with no bag limits, size limits or licenses required. Wild hogs can be taken on WMAs only during specified seasons, where bag and size limits may apply. For more information on hunting wild hogs on WMAs, consult the specific WMA brochure for the area you want to hunt."
"On wildlife management areas (WMAs), hogs may be taken during most hunting seasons, except spring turkey. But, if it’s during archery season, you must use a bow – during muzzleloading gun season, you can only use a muzzleloader. And, you do need a hunting license as well as management area permit and any other necessary permits to hunt wild pigs on WMAs – where on some, daily bag limits on wild pigs do apply, and on a few, there’s even a minimum size limit on what you can take."
Any where you can find legal access in the state of Florida near water and you will find pork.
The central counties in northern Florida along the Georgia border have some heavy hog populations in all of the rural areas. The reproduction rate is very high, and they do considerable crop damage, so permission to hunt is not hard to come by. Good luck.
More specifically, I would suggest Madison County, where I have enjoyed the most success, along with Jefferson and Hamilton counties. The area west of the Suwannee River seems to be ideal habitat for hogs.
Im a student in Tallahassee, and am new to hog hunting. I was wondering if you are hunting WMAs or private land in the counties you listed above?
