Q:
I have a question about coyote hunting. What do you do with the body after its shot? Like for deer you eat the meat and mount the head if its a big buck, and for a dove you eat the breasts, but what about coyote? Do you eat coyote meat? Now im not against coyote hunting and in fact ive have been looking foreward to it for some time now. Thank You

My local taxidermist takes them and if it is a decent coat he will give me around $30 for it.

Alot of people skin them and sell the hides, alot of people just shoot them to thin the numbers, since they are voracious predators of deer, particularly fawns, turkey, rabbits, quail, etc.

Hang 'em on the nearest fence line or stump. I would not skin one of those flea and tick infested things for $30.

Put'em on a hangin tree close to a den. Yotes dont keep around very well with dead one's around.

In the late fall and winter I skin and sell the fur. It's certainly not the market that it used to be but better than simply tossing them away. The very light colored hair bring more money than the darker ones or at least I've done better with those.
Skinning, if you have done it, is a difficult and time consuming job.

They are much easier skinned while warm. I skin them on the spot and leave the rest for mother nature. The yotes back East are larger than their Western brothers but I only get less than $10 a hide but it pays for shells.

I skin them and throw the carcass away some place where it won't bother anyone. They are preditors and we thin them out to avoid excessive problems related to their hunting. Pretty much like we do with rats.

At one time they offered $500 for coyotes in my county, but im pretty sure that stopped after about 2 years and the coyote population booming.

I've seen where some people just hang the yote on a t-post for all to see, maybe as a scare-yote.

use em as bait for the next yote to wander by.Ive seen coyotes caught in snares completely consumed by their pack mates. All that was left was its head in the snare. Its a dog eat dog world.

Skin it and put the carcass in the bone yard(where we throw all our deer bear and whatever else bones) the rest of the pack finds it as a treat it seems and if you watch it or call from it you can get another yote or 2 out of the deal

Pennst8! Wow, I learned on this one too- I thought at least the pelt would be worth more......due to overwhelming replies sayin' the same thing- I guess there really is nothing to do with them. There's got to be some kind of 'hides for habitat' program out there, isn't there?

I skin them and then use the body for trapping its not the best but it does ok and it gives me somthing to do with them. If I get a mangy one I wire it up so it frezzes standing and then place it standing in a snow bank and sees who shoots it. I live in a rural area where most people shoot them for predator control. It makes for a good laugh when I ask them about it when I see them next
