Q:
What "other" parts of the animal do you eat? Livers and hearts for me. I skip brains, including squirrel brains, and also have no taste for kidneys.
I have posted in the recipe section some stuff including further thoughts on cleaning squirrels while it was fresh on my mind. Links in first comment

I have often eaten the heart, but leave the rest of the 'gut pile' for the scavengers in the wild.
I like liver, but I usually skip the "innerds" altogether on my wild game. I'll try just about anything when someone else makes it. In Jamaica, I've had goat's head soup quite a few times--with the brain & tripe in it--delicious. I wish I had some right now. Chicken foot soup is another Jamaican thing I like--tastes like chicken. (I've spent a lot of time in Jamaica--love the food but I'm glad I live here).
I really like liver from a young doe, but my cardiologist has told me to stay away from all organ meats, and as much money as I pay her I'd better pay attention.
>stay away from all organ meats
the only such I eat is from wild game, I'd like to be so lucky as to have so much on hand I'd concern my Doc
Used to eat liver until my Dr sad QUIT!

i stick with the tenderloins back hams and front shoulders i dont mess with guts
livers and harts for me , but i have a couple of friends that love deer nuts . they have eaten several pairs from my bucks ,but i ain't going that far .
mmmmmm, Brains Brains BRAINS (1980's remake of night of the living dead, so funny). I like my forefathers honor the game by eating the heart, I'm wild but not wild enuff to eat it raw. My grandfather made the best stews and gumbos that always had bits of heart and that woould be what i scoped oout first, yum. I dont like liver but will eat it from time to time, knowing it's good for me. No rocky mtn oysters, for this Cherokee.
Some of you guys must be Native American.....
I was thinking by now someone would tell us how much they dig squirrel brains. I have eaten them but didn't get hooked.
When I was a kid we sometimes ate calf brains, but we kids uniformly lacked enthusiasm while our parents apparently liked them. So no brains of any kind for me.
Are squirell brains safe to eat? They don't cause "mad squirrel disease" do they?
>Are squirell brains safe to eat?
that some folk get a disease similar to mad cow, and a couple of them from KY had eaten squirrel brains... was debunked as coincidence in an article I read.
Depends on who you want to believe though. I have to admit, since I don't eat them, it feels good not to worry about it [g]
If you see sweetbreads on a restaurant menu give them a try. You might be pleasantly surprised.
if itll fit in my skillit Ill eat it.Properly prepared just about any things eat-able.BUT with all humble and due respect,I will pass on them nasty lil'sausages.
