Im sure you can put any kind of garbage in the woods and a raccoon would come and see
anything with a fish scent ; crawdads smelt , marshmallows peanut butter candy, they have a sweet tooth.
Are you wanting to trap them or call them? It matters.
i want to trap them.
The way I started as a beginner was to soak 2 inch by 2 inch pieces of sponge in a mixture of fish oil and anise oil, about half and half. Then I would wire it about 18 inches high on a fence post or small tree. The closest to a small stream or drainage ditch as possible. I used one and a half double spring traps that I would place under the sponge. Now, I will say every once in a while I would catch a cat or a skunk.
But it really works for beginners.
we used a chicken sandwich one time..
should i dig a whole so it looks more friendly to the raccons?
