WTH is this anyway?? Just curious Thanks
?... Its a box that if you put bait in it it'll trap rabbits...
You can use 3/4 board. I recommend oak. It hold up longer than pine Rectangular box 2' long x 10" tall x 8" wide. Your measurments don't have to be exactly these. One end is closed off the other open. Cut another peice 11"x 8". You're goin to make a sliding door. Nail/screw 3 boards around the opening (left, right and bottom) leavin 7/8" in front of opening. Place your door against the opening then nail/screw some 1.5" strips to the end of those last boards you nailed on. this is your door guide and will hold the door in place when it falls. Put a screw in top of door. Drill 1.5"-2" hole about 4" from closed end on top of gum. Find a good stick with a kicker or branch on it. Cut it to about 10" and your branch down to .5" This is your trigger. The kicker will catch the inside of the hole and hang down about 3-4" inside gum. Mount a 10-12" post on top between door and hole. Cut a 1" strip about 12". Tie string from screw on door to 1" strip then from 1" strip to top of trigger. Set 1" stick on post. You'll have to play with it to set it just right so when the rabbit goes towards the back of gum where food is he bumps trigger causing door to fall. I hope you can make sense of this and it works.
Wow...thanks for the directions, easy to follow and sounds fun to make. Guess I should get buildin! THANKS!
Let me know how it does. i havent made one in years. You can also use a hollow log.
