Tracking sysytem. You can't train what you can't find, and if you start them out right, you shouldn't need the shocking collar too much.

tracking system, I would go with a garmin gps tracker, a lot better than the old style and you can get maps so you can see roads and rivers etc from your reciever. Never used a shocker on a hound don't see the need, if your dog runs trash sell it or trade it for one that doesn't

Never saw a reason to use a shock collar and I own a Walker hound. They're a little energetic thats for sure but patience and training will work better. Positive reenforcement of obedience during training works well too.

GPS Receiver is what I'd go with for tracking/retrieval.

Tracking system. Only use the shock collar as a last resort, and only then there is a right and wrong way to use one of those. I would just try to spend that extra training/obedience time it takes. It will pay off. I have seen animals ruined by shock collar. I have also seen ones that it worked well on when used right. I have one now that I use a collar with. Lots of times I put it on him not turned on, and just his knowing it's on him makes him fly right.
