Q:
Blow guns for rabbit and squirrel? I watched a hunting show shot in so texas, where the hunters used a blow gun with spear head darts for rabbit and rattle snake. Worked great out to 15 yrds and was devestating to the rabbits. Would you use this? these blow guns cost around 40.00 and comes with darts. looks like a fun way to hunt

it probably would be fun. i'd try it but first of all i dont have a blow gun and second of all i dont know how to use one.
It definitely sounds fun. If it works effectively I would love to try it.
I got a blow gun. Me and my bro shot a possum with it.
I think it would be fun to try it.
It would probably be fun for a while, but give me a gun any day!
I generally don't kill anything that small, ( except for rattler's, then I use a .357 pistol with #7 shot
my son has one . we never hunt with it but it is surprising how accurate you can be with one.
I bought one for my son just two weeks ago along with the spear tips and all at Cabela's.
It looks like it would be fun(and deadly) to hunt small game with.
I used to take squirrels all the time with a blowgun.
I remember one winter when we had a mouse in the house,I was able to stick-one after a couple of attemps!
i had one but nevr shot much with it. they shoot hard! got one stuck in a tree and it wouldnt come back out.

I can hear it now, Catch our show next week when we go blow gunning with Cgull in Zimbabwe for Cape buffalo.
Sounds fun and challenging.
Would be a fun change of pace. Does it come with a vial of tree frog poison?
sounds fun, must take a while to master it though.
where are they sold?

Yep I've used em. They kill via hemorage like an arrow. only mini in size. Sometimes you need to blood trail same as an arrow hit deer. Except you will need better eyes to see the blood droplets.
Yes I used one for squirrels and birds in the back yard. The fun was experimenting with different lenghts of piano wire testing for velocity and impact power. Not unlike handloading! When I practiced I was quite silent and deadly.
You can make a surprisingly good blowgun out of half inch pvc pipe and the darts out of bamboo barbeque skewers and duct tape.
you can make your own for realativly cheap and they work extremely well. darts will go straight through an apple so id imagine they would work pretty darn well on small game.

If you plan on using a blowgun to hunt:
1. Check if it is allowed in your area, especially if you are planning to use it in a public area.
2. Beware of some of the "hunting" darts being sold. Many are cheaply made and inaccurate, leading to wounded that escape and die a lingering death.
3. Test your darts to determine if they can provide the accuracy and penetration/wounding required for hunting a given type of game at a given range.
