Q:
Anyone think I should wear camo when i go squirrel hunting? I think its not needed, but if anyone thinks otherwise speak up. Also, what would good clothing choices be? I live in NH, and will be hunting oaks and beeches.

When i go i just throw on a camo jacket that has my liscense and a pair of blue jeans. I use a .22 so i dont need to really worry about shells since it will hold 15 rounds. when i used a 20 gauge i wore a hunting vest since it had slots for shells.

Camo helps the squirrels not see you. I would wear it.

I usually just wear a camo jacket or hoodie over my school clothes. Blue jeans are fine. And i usually wear a blaze orange hat just in case.

Contrary to deer, squirrels can see in color, so I would definitely recommend it. That being said, I've killed my fair share dressed in jeans and a tshirt. Just keep the colors drab and you'll be fine.

You're right, you don't need it, but it can't hurt. Sometimes I wear camo items not for the camo, but just because it's good clothing for hunting.

Wearing 10 Mile Blaze Orange, they don't know the difference. It's the movement they notice and I've had them come shooting up the very same tree and had one eating a nut on my right knee one day.

It's not necessary...just be sure you're dressed for the weather, and bring a cushion to sit on. Good luck!

I've never worn it for squirels. just wear what ever is comfortable, and good for the weather.

I wear camo as I like to still hunt and think that it makes a difference.

It's an either or argument.Either solution works.I usually do wear camo but there have been times In just wore a camo shirt or jacket along with jeans and did just fine in the field.
You might worry more about whether your footwear is leaving scent in a prime deer area though.
Remember, deer, squirrels and hogs like the same food(acorns, esp) so you might not want to make it harder for yourself when deer season opens by leaving a scent trail that won't have time to dilute.

I enjoy hunting squirrel with a .177 pellet gun and I just where a backpack for the dead ones and camo pants and shirt with a blaze orange winter hat. Good luck Man!

I've done pretty good on fox squirrels if i wear a white T-shirt and blue jeans. I stick out like a sore thumb and every squirrel in sight will stick his head out and bark at me. If I'm going to be hunting an area that's full of gray squirrels I go in full camo. Those little guys leave the county if they even think they see you.LOL!
