I would say 750 fps. Maybe 600 fps and higher but i would stay at 750 fps or higher just to make sure. 1000 fps on squirrels works like a charm. I've hit them in the butt and they stumble and start to die and i just pop one more in them and they are down!
I would say 1000 fps for an ethical kill.
I have killed them with a 500fps air rifle, head shots at close range, 10yds. If I was going to realy get into it I would get a Gamo rifle and at least 1000fps.
You can easily kill a squirrel with a 600 fps air gun. I hunted with one for two years before I got my Gamo. Shoot the squirrels in the head and you won't have any problems whatsoever. Shoot pellets not BBs.
anything over 600 fps will kill it if its a good shot, but for the sake of just having more power i would go with 1000 fps.
I would also say at least 1000 fps for consistent ethical kills. If you have not already done so you probably should check your state regs because some areas do not allow hunting with airguns. I live in PA and we are not allowed to use airguns for hunting.
I would say 1000 for a clean ethical kill. But if you wanted to, i guess 750 fps would be good enough. Just gotta hit those vitals
