Spent many hours as a kid, fishing and hunting up and down the Neches where it crosses Hwy 84. Always wanted to walk the T&NO railroad bridge, but grampa was smart enough not to let me! LOL!! (now Texas State Railroad) Spent lot's of time at Maydell helping my dad shoe horses. Are you old enough to remember "Holsumbeck's" store at Maydell? Drank many a ice cold "Coke" out of their box for 10 cents!

I've been by through there a few times, never enough time to stop and fish though. Mighty fine country over that way!

Didn't know about the "Trades Days" at Marshall, but I've spent many hours wandering around Canton.
I worked at Troup, Tyler and Kilgore. Made more than one stop at the "Rio Palm Isle" at Longview. Johnny Cace's seafood was a good place to eat also.

The spring squirrel hunt in E. Texas is "tough". So many leaves, it's hard to spot squirrels. Them little cat (scat?) squirrels are a hoot! They are the best eating if you can hit 'em on the run or catch them sitting still long enough for a shot! LOL!

Funny---squirrel hunting has always been a fall activity for me and I can't feel comfortable about hunting them in the spring---just me.

Hey Bubba,
How long ago have you been over to Canton?

From what I've heard, its grown a LOT in recent years, but slowed a little as everything else with the BHO presidency.

I haven't been to "Trade Days" in Canton since the early 70's!
I spent many hours/days at the "First Monday" in Weatherford, Texas back in the late 80's and early 90's. Bought and sold lots of "stuff". Made some good money, broke even some. Always had lot's of fun! Met lots of nice folks!

I have family in and around Nacogdoches. I was born and raised in Anderson county. Graduated down at Elkhart! Go Elks!!
