Early morning is the best time. Look for brush along that is secluded near open fields. Also, near fence rows and ditch banks are good places. I don't know what your rabbit populations are like but around where I'm from it's always a good idea to have a dog with you.

actually they are nocturnal. You hunt them in the daytime by getting dogs on them or jumping them with the brush stomping bit
