I hunted deer for the first time in second grade. I got my first deer in seventh grade. So I guess that means I hunted 5 years before I got a deer also.

I have begginers luck at almost everything. My first deer was an eight-pointer that walked out 30 minutes after the first time I ever climbed up in a stand to hunt.

Killed one on my first hunt when I was twelve---a seven point, and killed him with a 20 ga. loaded with #3 buck. I'd never let a kid try with than combo now, but I wasn't in charge back then, over fifty years ago.

I still hunted for only one year before I shot a doe with my bow, and then a few days later I shot a spike buck with a rifle, that was when I was fourteen.

For the first many years of my hunting life, i was only welcome at camp the last weekend of buck season.(not because i'm a jerk, because i was a kid) It took me several years, maybe even 10, before i took my first buck. Since then i've done ok!

I hunted two seasons (ages 16 and 17) without success, and enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly before my 18th birthday. I wouldn't have another opportunity to hunt deer again until I returned to the continental United States and was 21 years old. That first season after my return yielded a successful hunt, and I dropped a muledeer buck, so I guess you could say I didn't connect until my third hunting season...or you could say it took me five years to bag my first buck.

Last year which was my first deer im 16 now so i was 15 haha. But I saw a doe as soon as I got up the bank since we parked up the road I had to walk down. I didnt have my gun loaded but he ended up chasing that doe right back to me. it was running too fast but along came another and i squeezed the trigger. Turns out it was a button buck but hey it was my first year and i couldn't ask for a better day.

I killed my first deer at about 23 years old and had hunted for 3-4 years. My dad didn't hunt deer and at that time there were not an abundance of the animals in the south like today.
