A boot dryer for about $40, or if you don't mind spending more, a Smoker. Oh, and a good knife.

Depends on how much you want to spend. They might want a new gun/bow/fishing pole or some accessory to go with said item. A box of Hot Hands might be good idea. When in doubt, a gift card.

Warm items and gift cards are the easy way out. I'm picky about my equipment but am sure that any knife or scope that costs more than $300 would be acceptable. :)

Since nobody has mentioned it yet, how about a knife? LOL

I also do the online wish list thing. It helps with ideas and I get what I want, don't have to deal with returns or crappy gear. Or something I already have. I refuse to tell someone good enough to spend their hard earned $ on me that I already have or don't like the gift. I've often regifted those presents to hunting partners or young hunters that could use it.

It's nice to have wish lists at places, put I have a particular grudge against gift cards...

Gift cards only benefit the place you get them. The stores have spent a decade or so now telling us how gross it is to give cash. Once you buy a gift card you are locked into that store.

Now that's not bad, if you know for a fact that the person wants something from that one store, but you really limit a person's choices sometime.

I made the mistake of getting a card for my son once that turned out to be so useless I bought it back from him.

So I would either be sure about a store, or give cash.

And a good knife, since nobody's thought of it yet.
