Q:
Anybody else like nature shows in general? Actually I don't get my quota of tv time on it anymore since my wife doesnt "like to see animals getting eaten". ~~~~ Currently I am trying to watch "big cat diary" on animal planet. I'll tell you what's cool is the they show something and then they have the Maasi Tribal Music come in ~~~~~ really really cool

correction, Maasai was mis-spelled
I watch a lot of nature shows, but I get tired of watching as the cute little rabbit escapes while the bad old bobcat goes hungry. The predators have to eat, too, and they are pretty darned good at getting their prey and I'd like to see the nature programs show it like it really is and not on a first grade level where nobody ever gets hurt.
Some of those documentaries on lions, etc., do a good job and show the lions actually taking down prey and eating it. I'm not trying to be bloodthirsty and savage---just like to see a little more realism in nature programming. There's just too dang much Disney out there.
Planet Earth has a lot of beautiful shots without the killin part. Although, isn't that nature? (the HD slo-mo of the zebras and wildebeests still blows my mind)
Yes I do. I like the Discovery channel, Monsterfish, Nat Geo Channel has a few other good ones.
I used to watch NOVA, Wild America, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, Nature
I once saw a show that went against the grain. It was just predator kills. Not much talk, all action. It was one kill after another. Like a highlight reel almost. It was amazing. Cruel beauty.
I seldom watch A/P but enjoy Discovery, NatGeo, etc.
86ram, I just noticed your post, where is Wild Kingdom shown and at what time? I've spent many an hour watching Marlin Perkins. Thanks.
One thing about those shows... They show the (insert predator name) get up, stretch, and go about the daily business of hunting. Cut to... Thompson Gazelle foraging on the plain. Cut to lion. Cut to gazelle.
It's gotten so every time there's a shot of a gazelle, or antelope, my wife and I say "Lunch!".
007... Sorry for the delay in answering... I have not seen Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom with Mr Perkins or Wild America in God know when about 20yrs.
I don't think or know if they show them at all anymore.
I know they brought Wild Kingdom back with Rick Shroeder as host and the last I heard a woman hosted it.. I think it was on Animal Planet and I caught one episode bout 3yrs ago and it was nothing like the original and the host wasn't involved like Mr. Perkins so I didn't bother watching it or putting the effort into finding it again.
