Less advertising and more articles than F&S. Old time adventure stories in serial form that are very enjoyable. A lot of stuff on trapping, which is the main orientation of the magazine. Good articles on fishing and some good gun writing by Mr. Ed Hall. A predator hunting column. All in all, a nice outdoor publication. Wish they could get Dave Petzal for a contributing writer, they would be perfect.
yes i subscribe to it and if i had to chose between it and f&s i would go with f.f.g hands down. their articles are more down to earth . plus they have Lew and Charlie .
I'm not a trapper but have always enjoy Fur Fish and Game for as long as I can remember. That and the National Rifleman are the two that are always on the coffee table. Very practical magazine.
I bought it for a year to follow the operation arctic short story. The ending was bad but what a story! It is a great magazine, different than F+S with less hunting tips and more trapping stuff.
I too like FFG, haven't yet subscribed but buy it on the newsstand from time to time. Peterson's was mentioned, I let that subscription run out long ago, it got too comic bookish to suit me.
I had forgotten about FF&G. So glad to hear they're still hanging in there. Used to pick it up in the old days. I liked it a lot back then. Glad to hear it hasn't changed much. Change usually means commercialization (e.g. porn movie ads, etc.). Do they still use that same classic cover design?
