Q:
curiousity here for any one still in high school are there a lot of fights where you go? and those of you already graduated do you remember there being a lot of fights? now how this relates- theres tons of fights in my school and some of them are pretty bad i never had to fight but im not going to be a victim if it comes down to it ill defend myself but if i get in a fight i loose hunting for a year do you think if anything ever happens i should wait for a cop or secuirity to pull them off or defend myself what would you do? (seriously none of the tough guy ill take all of them kind of stuff) and any bad fights you recall? we had a kid throw another kid through a window pull him back out and continue beating him he was in the hospital for like a month

Yep, there's a lot at my school. I have never been in one, but I would definately try to defend myself and not care if I got in trouble. Although I do think it is really stupid that kids get in trouble so often for defending themselves in a fight. Thankfully, my parents would understand and have a lengthy discusion with the other kid's parents and mabey even the kid...

There were only a few while i was in high school. I graduated in 2007. You don't want to let someone beat on you. Defend yourself. Don't ever start a fight though. So not worth it.

I would say we had about one per month in my highschool, Never started a fight but I had to finnish one once in defence... dont fight unless you are physically hurt. words and a little bit of shoving just need to be ignored but dont let someone hurt you or someone you love... thats just how I look at it. Good luck man, may you have patience and wisdom

Dude, The way that the school system is, you legally can do nothing more than ball up and cry for a teacher. If you have a good lawyer, than don't take a beating just because theres no teachers around. try to avoid it at all costs, but you're safety isn't worth how loud you're screams for help are.Trust me I know.

no one wants to fight me as far as i know i dont start trouble so i think im safe but jay even if a teacher does show up he/she cant interfeer so ill be blocking hits for a while school secuirity can stop a fight it takes them a long time though were in a big school and there only three i trust the RO (resource officer) -cop in school to break one up but once again theres only one so basically if you being atacked you can pray one of the four people who can interfere will be there or take the suspension

Buck is right, walk if you can, if not, your choices are either get the crap beaten out of you, or swing strong and hard for the face and throat. THIS IS A LAST RESORT, ONLY IF YOU HAVE NO OTHER OPTION. The best is to avoid getting in one in the first place, there are no winners, someone just gets hurt and you both get suspended.

I'll tell ya' what my dad told me growing up.
"Don't start no $*^% and there won't be any, but if someone else starts it finnish it".
In other words, DON'T start anything, walk away if you can, but defend yourself if you have to.

You are certainly permitted to defend yourself (though it seems honest or objective witnesses are in short supply when you need them). There will always be the effort to establish some sort of pecking order in high school. Try to remain outside the social circle that makes that a priority but, if you can't, be alert and ready to defend yourself aggressively. If you can, dismiss it or walk away, but I'm well aware that there are often no options left to you, so if someone starts a fight with you, let him regret the day he started that fight. After that, I recommend you check your six, watch your back, because anyone immature enough to push for a fight is fool enough to come up from behind to even the score when he pays for his mistake. Thankfully, things normally change considerably when you get to college.

Not many fights in my school. I might have said this in an earlier comment to a question, but Im in the top 10 of my class and no one even thinks about bothering me. I used to get bullied but it stopped just as fast as it started, because I wouldnt take it.

I would have to defend myself. I tell my kids that if they ever instigate a fight they will be punished but they have every right to fight back.
