Q:
Does any of my fellow hunters have a good luck charm that you take with you hunting? Like a lucky penny or rock or something your kids gave you for good luck? Or are some of you superstitious like me? For example same hat every year, knife that your Grad Daddy gave you? The same socks you wore for the last 10 seasons? LOL

I really don't have one but I think it would be fun to have one. So what are yours?
I keep a "buck eye" among other things.
"Pocket Angel" and a small cross that says GOD loves you.
Great Aunt/Mom gave them to me, for luck and safety.
Well I Think my favorite thing, or the lucky i bring with me is my Bible! It seems like every time i read the good book while im hunting, Or just praying for meat- not a Big rack god blesses me with the animal im hunting for! its worked the last 3 years. THis year my dad and i said a prayer 15 minutes before i got my buck, then he got his a hour later. Both Nice bucks. Oh this was on public land too!
I dont really have a good luck charm but i am superstitious about garbage. If i find it in the woods i pick it up or it the area will not produce for me.
I have a small keychain duck call that has a little tiny reed in it and everything. if im sittin out in a field or something, it works really well as a dying rabbit call for coyotes. if the bird hunting is slow, or the deer just arent movin, its kind of cool to try and call in some coyotes near the end of the day...just for fun.
Now think about it I did have a ball cap that I brought in 97 that I use every year. I retired it last year because I did not fill my tag, Brought a new one this year and hopes it brings me luck. It says,"Hunters get all the big Racks" LOL
The shells from my 1st doe and buck on a leather loop i strapped to my backpack...
Buckeye.
I have a tin with exactly 44 cents of change in it, all dated to the year of my birth. I carried this with me all day for every sporting event I ever participated in and every deer hunt I have ever had. I put kleenex in it to keep it from rattling.
I have my rifle that my parents gave me as a14 b-day gift. Its brought me lots of good times. I am now 33 so I have had it almos 20 years. Gotten my both my deer and hours and hours of enjoyment in the woods!
Nope.
My grandpa's 30-06 that i got 2 years before he passed away. I have gotten my first bear and my biggest buck to date with it.
I keep my empty shells from the year before (if there were any!) in my back pockets.
I carry a Buck knife that my late father-in-law gave me years ago for Christmas. It has cut game on every hunt that it has been on. Not always mine, but something! I hope I never lose it. The only time I use it is on a deer or elk hunt. I'm not superstitious, but I guess it's the closest thing I have to a charm. I know that the reason I did not get an elk this year is that I did not hunt with my .35 Whelen.....
Of course I am not superstitious. However, do wear a lucky hat, a scarf of my mothers, always carry a knife I had given to my dad before he passed away. If luck stays bad, I change hats, but only for a day. These are traditions, have nothing to do with superstition. Yeh, if you believe that I have a bridge to sell you.
i have a lucky pair of antlers for the rut shot my first and biggest buck with em
I have a knife that my great granfather gave me. I never thought of it as a good luck charm, it's just part of my gear. But I wouldn't want to part with it.
I like to keep the shell from the round that downed my deer. Sometimes, I've been unable to locate it. A couple of years ago, my son and I were checking out a tree I'd been under, and he found a brass from the year before. I think that was pretty lucky.
Grandads lucky shirt, uncles knife I gut everything with, and the 3006 my dads buddy gave me. I also wear the same hat cause all that karma works!!
I rub the antlers of my largest buck. If it doesn't work I rub them again. If that doesn't work I rub them again. It eventually works sooner or later.
All I do for luck is read the bible before heading out, say a prayer for a safe and enjoyable hunt and for all the animals I have killed, and I do happen to keep a loaded shell in my shirt pocket just for that extra bit of "luck"
I found a formless wide-brimmed felt hat in the attic of our farmhouse; that once belonged to my great grandfather over 40 years ago. I wear it whenever I hunt our farm. I feel like it brings me closer to my family heritage and our land... seems to bring me pretty darn good luck as well.
i rub my grandpas old knife my dad got when he passed away..seems if i dont rub it il miss or not see one.
Yup, He's upstairs above the clouds.
i carry a juju bag that has my first elk ivory in it, its a leather bag that i take on every hunt
