I can't speak for turkey hunters, but I have a friend who always wears his ghillie suit when he bow hunts. He sees way more deer than me. I need to get one too.
I got a buddey who always uses one, deer, turkey, coyote, fox. He hunts on the ground for deer bowhunting most of the time, doesn't like treestands, he even wears it on drives. I'm tossing the idea around of getting one as well.
Ditto Treestand. I have used a leafy suit for probably 15 years, the mesh and die cut stuff, and I don't see how a ghillie suit could work any better. Seems to me a ghillie suit would get pretty warm in April turkey hunting.
A friend of mine hunts in a ghillie poncho not the leaf pattern clothes and he straight looks like a bush! He also films all of his hunts. Last year while archery hunting deer he was able to sneak up on a black bear that was laying on it's stomach licking ants as they came out of their hill. It's amazing footage and he was able to get about 25 yards from it and watched it for almost 20 min. the whole time you can see that the bear could smell him but by the way it was looking around it had no clue my friend was where he was. After that I have always wanted one but they are a little out of my price range. He payed like $250 for his

I don't have the full ghillie but use the Ghil-leaf stuff from Cabelas and it works like a charm. You will not regret it.

i think its overkill, most anything will work for deer. as for turkey any good camo will work, no need for a gillie suit IMO.
I find the 3-D Leaf suit works well for both, its lighter, and it let you walk the woods with-out hang-ups on tree limbs...JMO
ghillie suits are good for hunting anything if it is set up right
