Does anyone make fishing lures on here? if so, how do you make a simple bass or sunfish lure? I want to try and catch a fish this year with a pole and lure that i made, got the pole, need the lure.

Spinnerbaits and in-line spinners are relatively easy to make. You can get by with a simple wire bending tool and the blades, beads and skirts are also easy to find or make. There are some start up costs buying all the stuff but you can make a lot of lures from your initial supplies.
Enjoy, it is a lot of fun. There is a pic of one I made on my profile if you are interested.
I have been making fishing lures for over fifty years. It is not hard, but in this day and age, and with so many ready made baits to choose from, it is just as easy to buy ready made. Just like sliced bread and ready rolled cigarettes changed the world, mass produced lures have made homebuilt lures sorta obsolete. I own molds for making soft plastic worms and grubs, and used them for years. But now I buy natural pork rind worms and grubs ready made and seem to catch as many fish or more than I did with the soft plastic. I still pour lead heads for my jigs because I like different hooks than are in most ready made products. But working with lead is kinda dangerous and lead is outlawed in many places. If you really want to try though, best of luck to you and check on the net for supplies such as split rings, hooks, piano wire, plastisol, and other such goodies. A good lead pot and ladle are nice to have because even hand carved wooden lures often need balance weights. A bending table with moveable pins is also nice to have for bending hooks and wires. A curing oven to work the soft plastics is also nice to have. A small compressor and an air brush is another handy piece to have. I will be glad to tell you how to make hollow wooden lures and any other that you want to make. Santa
You can make poopers for bass. You can buy bodies and hooks, or just carve wine corks and paint them. Toss on a skirt and you in like flint..
like labrador said poppers. first thing i learned to use with a fly rod, you can use a float on spin rod with them. Usually get the big gills with them. heads you can buy on cabelas. dress them up wit a bunch of different colors, the tying is pretty simple. i also make spinners wire bender assorted sinkers spinner blades and hooks. this is how i learned to tie. just made 2 muskie bucktails and redressed old ones.
When i started making my own fishing lures when i was young i would get all my supplies from barlows tackle. You can get a free catalog from them. They have everything you would need
