I can not over state the benefits both to you and the resource of taking these classes. My personal opinion is that these classes should be as mandatory as hunter safety is for new hunters.
That being said, be sure that you do not have exposed baits along streams as you may catch raptors and other non-target species. There are a lot of different sets based on the conditions and the traps you are using. If you can not attend a class, then at least check at the library - there are many good references available.
