I know it says 1903 on the bottle, but don't know by who.
Joe Hoppe was the inventor. He also invented the dry fly pattern of almost the same name. :-)
I am going to guess that it was the same guy who developed Hoppe's No.8, but he didn't care for the smell:-)
Hop-along Casidy in 1952 used it first for horse liniment!
Too late, Tree, I peaked back around 1976 and it's been downhill ever since.
OK Ok ok In 1903 Frank Hoppe made the Gun Cleaning smell
that has lasted to this Day.
